Ska, Ski's and other Highlights from my Weekend

Being an introvert and somewhat of a recluse during the winter months, this weekend contained a flurry of activity.

First, I decided that I would try my hand at Skiing again this wekkend after a 15+ year hiatus. It was not as spectacularly catasptrophic as I had feared it would be, not to say I walked away unscathed. Having equiped myself with a pair of millitary issue extreme cold weather trousers as well as a black parka I looked rather akward skiing down the hill without an automatic rifle of some sort a la snowy James Bond henchmen. That being said it has been decided that I need to spend more time on the slopes...

So to follow up throwing myself down a mountain (hill) for most of the day I checked out the Casbah here in Hamilton for some live music. The flavour du jour was a nine piece ska outfit whose name I believe was 'One Sound'. The band was a first wave ska revivalist outfit which only really works if they go heavy on the covers. I felt they would have a much fuller sound if one of them would balls up and give us some vocals. I am told this was the CD release party for the band and as such everybody's Mom and Dad come...  if you have never been to the Casbah, throwing a nine piece ska band into that space along with Mommies and Daddies its already packed even if you don't sell a single seat.

Next Post Vegas!
